Cinema and video are always less than life —
bounded by a frame, chosen by another's eye.
Yet they often feel more: concentrated,
crystallized, ache condensed. In life,
immersion is total; in video, reality is
captured and cropped. What is lost: the
infinite. What is gained: meaning, story,
ritual. To frame is to carve out ache and give
it presence. Less than real, but feels more
true.
